Launching Jean!

Inspired by the simplicity of silhouettes of the early 1960’s, we have translated a ‘paper doll dress’ idea into a perfectly tailored bias cut couture piece of modern glamour. Perfect for a cool bride or a red carpet piece when made in a vivid colour.  We would love to see this piece in bright fuchsia! Working on the most perfect straight body silhouette, we cut the 4 panels of the dress on the bias to get a wonderful form without too many seams which would  interfere with the simplicity.

The sleeve is also cut on the bias , to achieve a very wonderfully slim silhouette without being restrictive and to gain an element of ‘give’ when cutting across the cloth.

Jean has a perfect scooped round neck and a long invisible centre back zip to enable step in ease. Jean is fully lined in silk stretch.

The hem circumference is adorned in rows of hand cut silk petals which are cut out of the same cloth.

Every cm of this dress is made in London with an enormous amount of love and passion..x

Beautiful British actress Lara Pulver, looks sensational on the red carpet at the TNT’s 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards In LA last night. Wearing the aptly named  ‘Lara’ Backless dress in metallic bronze, teamed with vintage necklace sourced by Suzannah, Lara is the epitome of Red Carpet glamour, and the perfect Suzannah ambassador.

The dress silhouette is a new addition to the Suzannah couture and bridal collection. Lara’s dress was created for her from Italian bronze lurex jersey.

The beautiful Doris dress in rose gold jacquard is a beautiful modern piece for a summer wedding or a day at the races.

The dress is soft and light but with a gentle structure.  We found the beautiful Italian cloth at an exhibition in Paris, and fell in love with it immediately. The simplicity of the 50s style dress really maximises the beauty of the fabrication.  The warm peachy tones are lifted with a gentle rose gold thread to give a subtle glimmer and to add a really charming quality to the divine sorbet shade. The wide structured belt really maximises the waist. A tulle net underskirt enhances the full skirt.

Together with the couture milliner Rachel Trevor-Morgans we have created the perfect ‘pom pom’ Jackie O pillbox for the perfect retro inspired look.

The rose gold jacquard dress was picked out by Maxine Briggs of You and Your wedding in her Editor’s letter of this months magazine.

A fabulous review! Even though it was sent a year later!… it proved an investment piece really works.

Thank you Sarah for this, and for letting us ‘share away!’xx

The dress in the photos is a bespoke version of the Kaleidoscope dress. Sarah chose pure silk in Kingfisher. We lowered the neckline slightly to flatter more, made to measure and made sure it was demure but short enough to show off her great legs!

hello all, I know this is a very long over due note, but it’s always on my mind and I suppose it is better late than never. I just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone at Susannah who helped me out in October 2013. 2 weeks before I was due to get married I had a diva meltdown and decided that I hated the dress I originally planned to get married in. The ladies at the shop were incredible, not only putting me at ease but also turning around a made to measure copy of the Kaleidoscope dress from start to finish in 5 working days. I love my dress … and because its not a traditional wedding dress I get to wear it as often as I want. THANK YOU AGAIN XXX

We were thrilled to end the series and our year with the stunning presenter Tess Daly wearing  the strapless floor-length gown on the finale of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night 20th December..x

The dress has the inspiration from a late 1950’s ballroom. The wonderful deep collar is sculpted from a bias piece of silk faille lined with silk organdie and satin to give a wonderful, generous softly rolled collar part which shapes down towards the nape of the back, and echoes the drama of the back train part. The dress itself is tailored from a woven silk blend twill which we have had developed and produced in Italy. The dress is available in bespoke colour combinations from our London boutique.

The corsage is hand made by milliner Edwina Ibbotson and is detachable and can be worn at the waist or the wrist. Or interchanged with the simple neat belt, as Tess wore.

The line of the dress is cut with a higher waist to give a flattering silhouette.
